Linz Parish Church

A three-nave, Romanesque basilica was built on this site in 1286. The entrance and the tower steps have gothic cross-ribbed vaulting.
In 1648 the church was rebuilt as a three-nave, long house in the Baroque style. In the south-west corner is the St. John Nepomuk chapel, which was donated by Johann M. Pruner. On the right of the choir is a wall tomb holding the heart and intestines of Emperor Friedrich III. The high altar was designed by Matthias Krinner and Kaspar Modler, the picture having been painted by Carl von Reslfeld. There are ceiling frescoes in the choir and an altar painting by Bartolomeo Altomonte, while the side altar paintings derive from Joachim von Sandrat. The St. John Nepomuk figure in the choir is from Georg Raphael Donner, with a marble niche by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt.
