The office of Linz Culture

The main responsibilities of Linz Culture are issues of cultural funding, especially for

• research and science
• visual and performing arts
• music and literature
• cultivating art and culture
• film and media
• care of traditions and monuments
• cultural revitalization of city districts

Linz Culture participates in

the administration of foundations for cultural purposes, the awarding of art promotion fellowships and art appreciation prizes, in cultural exchange and international cultural partnerships, supervising and conducting EU projects, artist in residence programs, in decision-making bodies and juries of the city, in the planning and construction of cultural buildings and the development or expansion of old and new urban spaces; conducting and initiating cultural discussions, cultural analyses and academic cultural studies.

Linz Culture conducts

Pflasterspektakel, LinzFest, special projects on art and cultural education, readings by authors, open air events.

Linz Culture develops

working papers on cultural development programs, especially in relation to the Linz Cultural Development Plan, evaluation, preparations and realization measures of the Linz Cultural Development Plan, cultural compatibility checks, reports and statements on all cultural issues, expert opinions and evaluations of project proposals.

Linz Culture publishes

the annual report “Symmetry of the Sexes”, publications of contemporary literature, cultural handbooks, information brochures, an event calendar, news on cultural work in Linz, the newsletter Linz.Kultur

Linz Culture advises

about support measures, awards, fellowships

Linz Culture provides funding

through subsidies, contributions to print costs, exhibition assistance, working fellowships, travel costs grants, commissioning restoration work, city district cultural work, integrative cultural work for migrants.

Linz Culture provides support

with cultural service measures, to cultural associations by providing a special equipment pool, by conducting cultural association discussions such as information and continuing education events for the staff of Linz Culture, cultural associations and cultural initiatives.

Linz Culture is also

executive office for the Cultural Advisory Board for the City of Linz, executive office for the Culture and Tourism Committee, and also supervises other city decision-making bodies in the field of culture.
