The 500th anniversary of the Provincial Capital City of Linz was the starting point for the LinzFest. Conceived in 1990 as the “Celebration of the City of Linz for the City of Linz”, the lively and diverse festival has become a permanent feature of the cultural life of the city. And this for good reason: a program of music, cabaret, literature, a children's program and the popular cultural breakfast draws crowds and creates the unmistakeable LinzFest atmosphere Tens of thousands of visitors enthusiastically join in the celebration when the LinzFest extends an invitation to cultural encounters and artistic highlights.
The LinzFest is a meeting point for all generations and nations – on stage and in front of all the stages! From the local art scene to invited stars of the international music scene, everyone is a part of the LinzFest. While the FM4 stage and the Saturday evening are devoted to youth culture, the program during the day in the Danube Park and at the Cultural Picnic on Monday are designed for the whole family. The LinzFest is a festival for young and old! During the LinzFest weekend there are also free guided tours through the Lentos and Nordico museums and the Ars Electronica Center. There is plenty of fun for the youngest LinzFest visitors with the children's program, including giant bouncing tents, numerous creative stations and the Rebel Regatta with imaginative, self-made water vehicles.
