New buildings ______________________________________ IThe City of Linz is building a new museum for modern art on the Danube. An innovative and future-oriented concept is being developed, building on the international standard already attained by the New Gallery and incorporating the special focus areas laid down in the CDP. This concept should allow room - alongside the presentation of modern art - for media art and art in open spaces, for work from the local and regional scene, and for stimulating debate and discussion on all forms of contemporary art. New museum for modern art The City of Linz supports the building of a new Music Theatre and proposes that the Province of Upper Austria take into account the potential artistic, technological and medial developments of the future in the design of equipment and infrastructure for the new building, so as to create the conditions for a theatre of the future and new creative possibilities for regional artistic potential. Provincial Music Theatre The City of Linz is building a centre of expertise for cultural education on the railway station site. New, future-oriented concepts are being developed for using joint synergies between the Adult Education Centre and Library, linking up with other cultural and educational facilities. The centre, situated at one of the city's most important traffic junctions, will cater for a potentially very high number of visitors, and this must be taken into consideration when planning the contents, organization and infrastructure.
