Fields of Promotion
Visual and performing arts, drama, literature, dance, music, film, video, interdisciplinary and electronic media projects as well as qualified initiatives in cultural work and theory of art

Conditions of Application
The LKA Scholarships can be issued exclusively to professional artists and cultural workers who have been registered as citizens of Linz for a period of at least two years or who can undertake to prove that Linz has been the centre of their professional activities for this time. Emloyees of the city administration are excluded from the LKA Scholarships.

Endowment of the LKA Scholarships
The LKA Scholarships are conceived as individual promotions for art projects or cultural cooperations to be realized abroad during a period of at least 3 months or half a year at most. The Scholarships are endowed with a global monthly fee of ATS 20.000,00 ( 1.453,46) , travel expanses are covered by a single subsidy of ATS 10.000,00 ( 726,73). All insurance related expanses have to be provided by the scholars themselves.

Jury
A jury of three independent experts discusses and awards all letters of application.

Admissible Categories of Projects
1)Cooperations with foreign institutions, partners and experts

2)Traineeships in qualified cultural institutions

3) Artistic presentations and exhibitions abroad suitable to introduce the artist to the international art scene

4) Artist in Residence Projects suitable to initiate long term partnerships and cooperations at an institutional or municipal level

5) Extended studies related to long term project activities aiming at additional qualifications (no Post Graduate Studies!)

All projects according to the aims of the Cultural Development Plan (CDP) and sustaining the development of the independent creative scene of Linz are treated with priority: persistent effects on networking, the initiation of extendable artistic contacts and deepened information about foreign art scenes are the key criteria in the evaluation process of the jury.

To be noted
Additional scholarships from other sponsors or institutions exclude the application of the LKA Scholarship (e.g. when the project is overfinanced due to multiple donations). In that case the LKA Scholarship fee would have to be refunded immediately.

Transparency of Information
All LKA Scholars are obliged to make their project related activities and experiences open to public access. A special website (LKA Journal) will be constructed for the permanent and continued documentation of LKA stipendiates, who may either design the site contents themselves or make visuals or texts available for that reason.
